About New Mills Community Orchard

Bringing the community together since 1600

The orchard was the first Community Orchard in Derbyshire, established in 2006, and has a history of success, holding Green Flag awards for the last 8 years. Numerous other Community Orchards have been established in Derbyshire since, inspired by NMCO’s lead, including those in Hayfield and Hope Valley.

The orchard is managed according to the Orchard Management Plan, a plan drawn up by Derbyshire Wildlife Trust. Maintenance and care is undertaken by Friends of New Mills Community Orchard, with larger tasks and specialist advice being carried out by qualified New Mills Town Council Parks staff
